I recently discovered two illustrators who couldn’t be more different, but whose work I really love. The first is Brendan Wenzel, whose They All Saw A Cat was a Caldecott Honor book in 2017 and his Hello, Hello came out last year. His artwork is colorful and boisterous and I am really looking forward to A Stone Sat Still which will be published this August. His pictures are just fun.
At the opposite end of the spectrum are the Fan Brothers, who created The Night Gardener, The Antlered Ship and Ocean Meets Sky, all since 2016. Their illustrations are detailed and elegant and readers will find much to pore over in their books. Their next book comes out this fall and is called The Scarecrow. All these artists will leave you amazed. – Melissa
