Drag Queen Story Hour Protocol

The Drag Queen Story Hour will be held in the Herreshoff Community Room of Rogers Free Library on June 15, 2019 at 1:00 pm. The Drag Queen who will be reading at Rogers Free Library is Ramona Mirage. For the safety and enjoyment of all of our patrons, we ask that you please take note of the following policies and procedures:

All children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

The maximum capacity of the Herreshoff Community Room is 60 people. Patrons will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis; there is no pre-registration for this event.

The doors to the Herreshoff Community Room will open fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start of the event. Patrons are asked to form a line outside the Herreshoff Community Room if they arrive before the doors have opened.

Should we reach the maximum capacity of the room, no additional patrons will be admitted.

If there is sufficient interest, a second story time will be held immediately following the first for patrons who were unable to attend the first event.

Rogers Free Library is committed to providing a welcoming and safe experience for all its patrons. In order to maintain a suitable environment for providing library services, we require that patrons not obstruct others in their use of the library and not interfere with the operation of the library. To maintain a welcoming and safe environment, the following actions are examples of conduct not allowed on Library property:

  • Disruptive, disorderly, harassing, or threatening behavior.
  • Engaging in any activity in violation of Federal, State, local or other applicable law, or Library policy.
  • Carrying firearms or weapons of any type (except by law enforcement officers).
  • Being under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol, and selling, using, or possessing illegal drugs or selling alcohol, cigarettes, or marijuana.

Authorized Library staff and/or law enforcement officers may intervene to stop prohibited activities and behaviors.

For the safety of our patrons, staff, and volunteers, especially the children who will be in attendance, protestors are asked to remain on the sidewalk in front of the library. Rogers Free Library respects the right of every individual to express their beliefs and ideas, including through peaceful protests. Individuals may exercise their right to protest during the event so long as protestors do not engage in conduct that disrupts library operations or endangers the safety of others.

  1. Thank you, again, for doing the right thing. It’s great there may be a second one if folks don’t get in.

A thought – did you give consideration to giving priority to children w their guardians? This has gotten so much attention, there may well be adults coming just to see it.

Just thinkin’ (always a risky proposition 🤣)
