Question: I realize the library allows a couple of renewals on books, but what if I am a slow reader? I am afraid to be late with a book. I need more time! What can I do?
Answer: Some of you may not be aware that we have a modest paperback section on the main floor. This collection is comprised of mass market books which have been donated. These items are on the honor system. They are not barcoded therefore, are not attached to your library record. We keep these so you may take your time and read at your own pace. Enjoy!
Q: Do you have the local newspapers to read? If so, which ones?
A: Yes we have many newspapers that you may read in the library. We have the Bristol Phoenix, Warren and Barrington Times as well as Providence Business News and Barron’s. We also have the big five – New York Times, Boston Globe, USA Today, Providence and Wall Street Journals. All newspapers are located in the reading room (a.k.a the old building). You may read the newspapers anywhere in the building, but please return them to their racks. Thanks and enjoy!
Question(s): I want to bring my laptop or tablet down to the library. Does the library have Wi-Fi? Is there a password? Do I need to be a member of the library to access it?
Answer: Yes, the library does have Wi-Fi. No password required. Our Wi-Fi is accessible on every level of the library including meeting spaces! All are welcome to access it!
Q: Can I print a shipping label from my smartphone at the library before I head over to the Post Office?
A: Yes you can! Rogers Free Library now has mobile printing! Simply download the PrinterOn app to your phone and follow the prompts to add our library. Wait for confirmation that your job has been processed then report to our printer station. Simple as that! See staff for more!
Are you the kind of person who needs to know when the latest Patterson books are available for checkout? Do you enjoy reading the latest research on a certain subject? Perhaps you are in search of new artistic inspiration? If so, we suggest looking into our preferred searches feature. If you sign up for preferred searches, you will receive an email at the beginning of each week, alerting you to what is new! Here is how you get started:
1. Visit our catalog and sign in.
2. Now type in something you frequently search for like an author or topic. (For this example we will use the subject of knitting.)
4.Once your search appears, look to the right of the page for “preferred searches.”
5.Click on the button. That’s it! All done!
Question: How long does it take if you order a book?
Answer: If the Bristol library doesn’t have the book you’re looking for (because it’s not in our inventory or currently checked out), but it is available at one of the other Rhode Island public libraries (there are 71(!) member library sites), it should take 3 to 5 days.
New books and “bestsellers” may take much longer even if many libraries have a copy, so be sure and let us know if you’d like to be put on the waiting list as soon as possible. Things move fast and it’s always great to get that notice in your mailbox: “Your book has arrived”.

Q: Is there somewhere on your website that I can find recommendations for books my teenager might like to read? There are lots of suggestions online but I am really looking more for award winners and notable reads.
