Maria Rogers (our founder)
Evidently there was a portrait of Robert Rogers (Maria’s husband) in one of the two banks that occupied our original building. It must have burned in the fire, July 1957. Does anyone out there know of another portrait of Robert Rogers? If so, please let us know!

Through a stipulation in his will, Nathaniel Byfield set off the “school lands” which were lots to be rented and leased for gardens. The monies collected went to support a public school system.
